Fantastic roses Karen, and the rain Friday would be very beneficial for the roses.

Thanks David. And now its raining really heavy. I ended up getting seven hours sleep even though I was up very late last night loading the photos on. Also Ray and I both watched the two very good movies on last night at the same time. They we Crocodile Dundee the 2nd and the one about Sam and his child.
Your Buff Beauty is going along fine. I haven't been to Mudgee for a while but
I will definitely remember to bring it next time I do.

Simon, Summer Breeze, its a good carefree spreading bush.
I noticed yesterday that Nahema has black spot, not that that worries me.

"Martine Guilot" is such a classy looking rose & "Bernice Mitchell" is a real cutie! Of course I have to agree with Simon regarding "Summer Breeze"...very attractive!

They are all very beautiful Karen...

They are all beautiful.
I love Scabrosa.
How did you get it to strike...I tried several cuttings without success. Not that that's unusual for me, but I have managed to strike a few floribundas and groundcovers now! Embarassed

I can never get rugosa to strike either Dunno which is strange given they we used as understocks at one point. Oh well. How badly does 'Scabrosa' sucker on its own roots Karen? I've planted a few seedlings I got from it and am bracing myself for a rugosa carpet Laughing

Thanks Bruce. We got another 50 mls over yesterday and the day before, plus there was a shower this morning. The garden is bedraggled and the garden needs a good mow and there is still so much weeding to do. The garden deffinitely does not look much now. But from where I sit at the computer, I have just noticed a enormous cane growing on my Mamon Cochet White ( which was planted in Winter 2009 ), I will have to tie it to the arch when I go out. How lucky we are to have this rain and the roses to have such growth.

Well it cleared by about 11.00 a.m. Now I want to start digging holes for my new 100 poles I got from a vineyard for free, as they have pulled out some grapes. They are 100 % better poles because they are solid, heavy and long. I have already put a few in and they are very firm in the ground, which my last lot I did weren't because they were too short to put them too far in the ground or you lost any height out of the ground for the climbers.
You might need some for your Ark, Simon ?

All you would have to do at our place is stand the pole up vertically and it would sink into the ground.

I am really ove rmud I tell you.
