Yeh - I had the snake guy come to my house when I found one in the Laundry. By the time he got there he couldn't find it, but charged an arm and a leg anyway. Not sure if would would be much point in the end, because he told me any they catch would be released at the wetlands or the summit, and seeing I am close to both, they would just slither on back I guess.....

OZROZ

They must do a good job as I see lots of red bellies up our way and no King Cobras.

I'm a surveyor and have seen lots of snakes. They don't really worry me too much. The only time I was a bit worried was when I first started work and we were working in a swamp that was about an hours walk from the car which was about an hour and a half from a hospital.

The surveyor I was working with told me the place was lousy with tiger snakes and if I was bitten it was probably best to just sit down and wait to die as it was too far from anywhere to get antivemon in time. Several years later I had to rescue him after he was bitten by a brownie. When he rang told him to just lay down and die cuase I was on lunch and he would have to wait until I was finished. Of course I got to him ASAP and he was a bit sick but he survived.

Might have been the breakup of Gondwana that cleared out the King Cobras, rather than the red-bellied Joe Blakes.
Loved the surveyor story. And I suppose you weren't wearing pantyhose to wrap up the bitten limb with.

Strangle them with? Set up as a pair of traps with wire nooses to hold the entrances open?
