Hello from W.A

Post by OzRose on 1st July 2010, 16:25

Hi there all . Another newbie on the block . I found this very interesting site a while ago by accident but then lost it when my 'puter crashed . Fortunately a timely reminder from admin. set me back on track.

I love my roses ; I always am asking myself if they are an addiction or an affliction but what ever the case I couldn't imagine having a garden without them .
I have just over 300 bushes here at last count and they are a mixed bag ; some of my favourite H.T's and floribundas , a handful of minis , some OGR and modern shrubs and am having a big love affair with the D.A's as they do so well here and thrive on neglect and make interesting big bushes in their own rights that fit perfectly into a mixed shrubbery . I find that they mix well especially with my grevilleas . [another plant family that I have a bit of a *thing* for ]

I look forward to learning more about other folks roses and how they grow them.

cheers. Rosalie

Thank you Simon ; Hi Cheryl , Hi Barbara .
Thanks for the welcome .
When I work out just how to post pix here on this forum , I don't mind showing you around my garden Simon.
I have about 2 acres fenced off around the house that I am slowly filling up with different things.
There are my roses [of course Smile ] different deciduous trees , my grevs and bottlebrushes and other bird plants -very important these as I now have a lot of birds visiting or living and breeding in my garden , my fruit trees , and in general anything that catches my eye and will suit the conditions .[Often below zero temps in winter and can be stinking hot in summer ]
It's still a "new" garden in as much as I am still planting things and the trees are still young and only been in the ground between 2-4 years .
When we bought the block in 2003 , it was just one big bare paddock with a clump of bamboo . When the house was built in 2004 , it sat there like a shag on a rock - all stark and lonely . It certainly has all changed a bit since then .

cheers. Oz
