Rose Orders please!!

Post by Dave on 14th June 2010, 10:53 am

OK, you know I'm not ordering any roses this year - except - maybe - perhaps - if you insist - Mme Joseph Schwartz, the real(???) M. Tillier and Munstead Wood. I'm only ordering MW as revenge. Last year when I visited the Austin Rose Gardens in Shropshire (UK) this was the only rose I wanted to give my cousin, who lives a lucky half hour away from the gardens. But it was sold out. I would have dug it up out of the gardens then and there if no one was looking, LOL! I'm a sucker for red roses and MW is the Mother of Reds. Other Austins like Fishermans Friend, Wm Shakespeare have all gone to glory here in the heat and humidity, so this is my last attempt. Those of you in cooler climates should definitely give MW a go. I mean Shropshire is frozen solid in winter, so these roses really thrive with a long winter chill.

This picture taken in the Austin Rose Gardens does not do the rich burgundy red any justice at all:
