Rose Keepers Data Base

Post by Simon on 21st August 2008, 9:43 pm

This is something I've been thinking about for a while now! Nurseries and mail order outlets often only stock relatively new release roses and roses seem to go in and out of favour about as often as I change my socks. It is often very frustrating for rose-a-holics (like myself) to look through books like Macoboys or my pocket Britannica book on roses at all those beautiful varieties that you'd love to collect and grow knowing that no matter how hard you look you just aren't going to find them. Some nurseries specialise in old roses and do a wonderful job at preserving them. Nurseries such as Misty Downs and Ladybird Roses have an excellent range of older roses and there may be a few more that I haven't found yet.

The idea of this thread is to create a database of sorts where people can post the varieties they have with the understanding that by posting on here they agree to swap cuttings with others who do the same thing. Normal AGT rules apply and please take care to find out about your State's quaratine rules. There are links provided for these in the rules section of the website.

I thought I'd kick off the list. I'm going to try and get a photo to put with each one but in the event that there is no photo you can always visit http://www.helpmefind.com/roses to search for most named varieties.

IMPORTANT: It is an offence to trade/swap/give away cuttings or buds of roses with a current PBR.

No Linda.... it's all good Smile At some later date I might get a bit of time to put mine into categories but I don't right now so a list is just fine. That fact that people are willing to participate in such an idea is much more important Thumbsup
