Another sad day in rose hybridising... Frank Benardella passes away.
As published (here: http://rosehybridizers.org/forum/message.php?topid=25635&rc=1&ui=2509364428) on RHA, on January 30, 2010, Frank Benardella passed away after a short battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. He was famous for his mini roses, like 'Black Jade', but also bred large flowered and floribunda roses and I hope that people take every opportunity to acquire his roses and grow them in an archival manner to ensure that they too are not lost. On behalf of all Rose Talk's members I'd like to extend our deepest sympathies to Frank's family and ask that Australian rose growers do their part to preserve his legacy by conserving his roses.
