Seedlings of 'Ann Endt' available for breeding

Post by Admin on 27th December 2009, 22:26

I have a couple of spare OP 'Ann Endt' seedlings that would be useful in breeding if anyone wants them... they are this season's seedlings and so far haven't flowered. I expect them to develop remontancy as rugosa hybrids generally have an extended juvenile period before remontancy kicks in. I expect the seedlings to be purple as is 'Ann Endt'. If they are as fertile as 'Ann Endt' then they will be rippers. Nice rugose leaves. I have about three or four to share. If you are interested PM me.

Bruce... I have boxed them all up to send on to Damian... I have kept two here myself and can send you propagating material as soon as I have any but at the moment they are all packaged up ready to go. Another option would be that I have a truck load of OP hips forming on 'Ann Endt' at the moment. I wasn't planning on using any of these as I have planned crosses I want to give priority to. You are welcome to all these and they germinate like weeds. I have a feeling they will sucker like crazy too because the rugosa influence is strong. My two have been planted in the garden today (have the sprinkler on them all night to soak them in) and I expect they will want to wander Rolling Eyes These hips don't take very long to ripen and ar starting to colour up already. I expect they will be ready to go at around the end of summer.

Don't worry Simon so long as it is in safe keeping then all is well.
