This is what a miniature seedling look like :)

Post by Admin on 23rd October 2009, 00:31

This is one of only two OP 'Gold Coin' seedlings that germinated this year. It is very obviously a miniature and about to flower for the first time. It's going to be a tiny rose.

To give you some idea of scale, it is growing in a box with standard sized rose seedlings (these ones are OP 'Papageno' and OP 'Baby Faraux') It's circled in red. The other seedlings are also about to flower for the first time and are about 20-40cm tall and were sown on the same day as the 'Gold Coin' seeds.

This is my favourite seedling so far. Its leaves are purple and it has the biggest serrations (teeth) on each leaf.

Your purple seedling should be a dark rich colour, Simon. I get very impatient waiting for that first bud to open.

Did anything good come out of your miniature seedling Simon?

I like your photos BTW!

The leaves on the "purple" seedling are awesome...

The little yellow seedling has come along very nicely. When the wether cools down a bit I'm actually going to put this little guy into the miniature garden to grow on. I harvested a flower form it the other day hopping to use its pollen but was unable to extract any... which is strange. Lots of anthers and what looks like lots of pollen... maybe it just needs to grow up a bit. The purple leafed seedling is doing well. It's sister seedling is about to flower for the first time but isn't as nice a plant as the purple leafed one. The new leaves coming up on the purple leafed seedling are just amazing colours... really love it so far and looking very promising. I try and get some photos of them later when it's cooled down a bit. It's 30 degrees in the shade here today, cloudless and extremely hot, nearly 40 degrees, out in the sun today so I'll be hiding indoors today until about 4pm when I'm heading out to pick up some ducklings and some fire poi fuel (something my daughter and I do... last nioght my daughter was performing at the Burnie New Years Eve show and put on a fire turning show on the beach... was very cool!). Anyway... back to in front of the fan... I hate this heat Sweating
