Buying a domain name for RT... poll

I'm looking at buying a domain name for Rose Talk so that we are easier to find and easier to remember. We can't get a .com.au unless I apply for an ABN... and since this is a non-profit service we don't need one... so we have the option of a .com, .net, .org, or .biz only. I am thinking it would be best to go for a .com.

I wanted rosetalk.com but this, apparently, is taken. So instead of rosetalk.com I was thinking ausrosetalk.com, ozrosetalk.com, or rosetalkaustralia.com ... what do people prefer? If neither... reply with your alternative

I think Rosetalkaustralia .com sounds best, but the others are OK Too.

How long does the poll go for. Only 6 out of 66 so far, I like the third choice. What is the cost of the domain name, is it an ongoing cost. Is the idea to make the world aware of this forum?

Buying a domain costs 1600 credits per year. We have 1715 credits in our credit bank through credits I have bought and those that Val donated so we have enough to buy a domain now (hence only 5 days on the poll). The cost of credits varies with the exchange rate. For example at the time of writing 500 credits costs $9.45 AUD. It's not a flat rate per credit... the more you buy the cheaper the rate. The idea is that it will give the forum an easier address to remember and a unique identity. I also like the Australia in the url as it helps give us an Australian identity without the com.au. We can apply for a com.au through a third party and point this address to the com.au domain but I would need to register for an ABN... and it is much more expensive than a .com and this way we can cash in our credits.

I like RoseTalkAustralia too Simon It says it all. And I thnk it would help international readers understand the context of the conversations better.

Are you sure you need an ABN for .com.au, Simon? I have a .com.au web address for my holiday rental Katoomba cottage and I don't have an ABN.

No.. it's not just an ABN.. there was something else that I can't recall too.. it was like an ABN or this other thing... I'll check and get back...

I found it.. it is either an ABN or an ACN which I assume is something you get if you have a registered business name. You need to select an option from a range of business types and each of them require some form of formal registration. I'm assuming you'd have a registered business name for your guest house then.
