Making donations to help RoseTalk

Post by Simon on 9th September 2009, 8:44 pm

Thought I'd post this link in case anyone wanted to donate a spare two dollars to help Rose Talk upgrade our features. I noticed just recently that Google Ads have reappeared on the forum, even when I had turned them off for logged in members when I set it up (seems this functionality has been taken away from me) and now I have to pay to remove them on a yearly basis.

This is just one example of things that can be upgraded. Another is the personal gallery space. I've recently purchased some more space for the forum so that members can upload their images directly to their own gallery so this shouldn't need doing again for a while.

The way it works is that as donations are made we acrue credits and these credits can be spent to buy new features. Each feature is worth a different amount of credits.

A long term goal is to acrue enough credits to purchase our own domain name and I'm currentl;y talking to the hosts to see whether a .com.au is possible instead of just a .com. I'm sure this will cost extra, and I don't know how much it would cost yet (in case anyone was wondering Wink ), but I will let people know when I know more.

Note: no more donations are needed. Thankyou Thumbsup

Yes.... I thought about it... but out of principle I haven't... instead I am taking it to them to remove them.

Quick note... now that we have purchased the domain name we really have no running costs for quite some time. Thank you to all those members who donated some funds as we now have enough to see us through for quite a long time. It's great to know that you guys value this place enough to help support it's longevity Smile
