Simon, get rid of all those troublesome chooks. You need Pekin Bantams which were originally bred as ornaments for the gardens in China centuries ago. They don't fly or scratch but just eat buggs. They weigh around one and a half KG ( 1 1/2KG ) Blacks are best as coloured feathers, buff. white tend to make the yards and garden look untidy.

Hey, I like the sound of chooks that don't scratch or fly.

How many of their eggs do you need to equal one from a big chook?

I haven't yet set up a chook run in Tassie, and I'm sorta missing the fresh eggs and happy chook sounds.

On the other hand, I thoroughly sympathise with you, Simon.

It's not good to discover much loved plants trampled or eaten. Mr A is still building wallaby, possum and rabbit proof fencing................

another potteroo turned up in the possum trap last night..thats number 6. The possums don't go near the trap!

Hope the eggs from your chooks make up for the collateral damage, Simon.
Both Dee and myself have planted Ebb Tide...so cuttings will be there for you when things start growing!

I finished half new chook fence today... will get on the tractor and level out the next section tomorrow and so I can swing the new gate and then open the chook run up to the back paddock... then the roses will be jumbo chook free and the chooks and ducks can roam out of harms way over a much larger area Cool and not a minute too soon... they pretty much destroyed my new 'Cecile Bruner (bush form) today and they are squashing the new peony sprouts... it's madness I tell you... madness! The next job is to cut my old water tank into sections to make a duck shelter so I can get them away from the chooks... then I'll be happy What a Face

So much to do and so little time to do it Simon!
You amaze me how much you do accomplish.
I am very sorry about the damage those elephant footed creatures did to your garden. Clumsy, brainless things. No aesthetic sense at all. alien pig
