'Maurice Utrillo'

Post by Simon on 23rd August 2009, 8:36 pm

Can people who own 'Maurice Utrillo' have a close look at the first leaves developing on it and tell me if they notice any striping on the leaves (in red and green)? I noticed on mine today that the new leaves are also mottled/variegated in various shades of green and green in much the same way as the flower is. I've never noticed it in older leaves.

See my entry on it here: http://cherokeehill.blogspot.com/2009/08/striped-leaves-on-striped-roses.html

Hang on a minute, what are you doing keeping all the rain in Tas instead of sending it to Mudgee Sad

I think we did get your share of rain Carole. Olt timers are saying this winter's rain has been like old times before global warming.
Anyway, re Maruice: My bush has finally produces some little leaves for me to to search for variagation, and Yes, they are variagated Simon. Interesting, isn't it.

Yep... going to do a little experiment on it this season and bud a non-striped rose onto it and see what happens Wink

Carole you might have to come down and drag it back with you because it just wont leave! I tried to get a rep (at work) to take it back to Vic with him but he said it wouldn't fit in the car Suspect

My Maurice Utrillo doesn't have variegated leaves, Simon. scratch
I hope it's not been mis-labelled!
