When should I pot up my cuttings?

Post by jordlanham3 on 14th May 2017, 13:05

Hey guys! I'm new to the whole rose thing. I currently have some cuttings going in a mini greenhouse which have been there for a few weeks! (I know it's not the right time of year quite yet: 14.05.2017). I happened to leave the greenhouse in direct sun one afternoon and many of them got burnt, however some have now taken and are forming roots with nice rootballs and sprouting new leaves. I was just wondering when i should take these few cuttings out of the greenhouse and pot them up individually? Living in Newcastle in NSW, we don't get a heap of frost throughout winter if that makes a difference? Another question I have is can cuttings grow new buds?

Thanks guys! Excited to hear what you have to say.

Cuttings can be grown any time of year if you have the right conditions. It appears that you do. What size container are the ones you have now in and how many ?
If you can keep the Spring/Summer feel to the greenhouse over Autumn/Winter they can stay there. As for the flowering they will become what the original plant looked like, but, cutting grown, it is known as "own root". can you tell me what the name/names are of the cuttings, sometimes this will help.
Regards David.

Awesome! So it's just a bunnings mini greenhouse about 40cm x 30cm all up with individual seedling trays which are probably 4x4cm each. There are about 7 cuttings which have already taken.

I have no idea what the rose names are. I got them from my nannas garden after she passed away.
