Le Vesuve NOT !!!

Post by Ian_M on 30th December 2015, 10:08

Mislabelled roses are a real bug bear of mine and it seems there is no shortage of them on the market. Some come about by honest mislabelling mistakes, e.g. tag falls off, gets put back on another rose. But some mislabelled roses that come from reputable nurseries at times leave me baffled.

A few years ago I ordered two Archduke Joseph and one Le Vesuve rose from a very well known nursery, whom I will not name. And no it is not the renowned "Mixy-Ups" one that we are all so fond of. Razz

Well the roses sat in pots for some time before I could get them out into the ground. This year they came into bloom properly for the first time. No problems with the Archduke. He has been correctly labelled. But oh my, my, my, the Le Vesuve is clearly none other than Old Blush or Parsons Pink. Exclamation

So I've spent three years waiting to see Le Vesuve in all its glory, only to find it is an exact match for Old Blush in the opposite garden bed. Rolling Eyes
