Look at what the Sandgroppers are sending our way, see link below. Scroll down the page a bit to see the full week. Thanks Fellas,

It's amazing how cool a day of 33C feels after a run of 39-40!!

Its been warm this summer but the nights have had almost an autumnal pattern - we haven't had many 20+C nights. So that has made it all much more bearable.

They tell us there is only 11 days left of summer,
Hmmm, let me pick myself up off the floor, from laughing so much. We know here in Perth we've got about another 6-8 weeks of this darn heat,.

Mate how much would you like. We are supposed to get up to 400mm in the next couple of days. We have already had about 150mm over the past week or two.

We'll try not to share the coming winds and rain ... bunkering down for cyclone Marcia with current forecasts at Category 2 at landfall ...
Expecting our strong Queenslander (built to withstand this type of weather so the locals tell me) withstands the 90k+ winds predicted ...

Rosebud.

You should be okay where you are. I would expect the winds to get as high as 90kph away from the beach. I see the rainfall they predicted as fallen somewhat but still expect 150mm+. Probably the biggest worry will be the stems breaking off plants due to the weight of the rain.

Been through a few cyclones in my life. Sat out one in a caravan at Dickey Beach. The cyclone (Wanda) crossed the coast just north of Noosa and was the one that flooded Brisbane in 1974 and to say I had a bit of a wild night is an understatement. 100kph winds and a lot of rain.

Thanks Balinbear - feeling much better ... my husband thinks I'm ridiculous but I've still packed an overnight bag for us all Wink Although not sure where/how we'd go!

Hopefully you're right and the only problem will be some early pruning!

rosebud

You ok this morning. We had about 82mm rain last night (from 5PM to 5AM) and its still coming down. The main roads are flooded but will be worse at high tide later this morning as the river backs up. We are miles above the flood level so its not a real issue and we can get out on another road.

No wind here at all.

Thanks, Balinbear - we're fine - no wind here either yet. very still this morning. will be landlocked soon with local creeks swelling up to bridge level - had around 150 mm over the last 24 hours. Will wait and see how the cyclone tracks down south. The bom.gov.au site shows it tracking down slightly inland from us, but expect to be be impacted by winds.
I have no experience of cyclones so not sure what to expect but our house stood strong in 2006 when cyclonic winds ripped off rooves around us (we were still in Sydney then but renting out this house).
Good to hear you are above the flood levels where you are. Stay safe.

How you going up there. You should be just about out of it now. It's still pouring here. Up until 7AM this morning we have had 397mm since 7AM Thursday. Just checked the radar and it should be gone from here in an hour or two.

We have had no real wind but a bit of thunder this morning.

Yes, we are well out of it now - lots of new lakes appeared in paddocks around us and roads cut but no destructive wind - lost track of exactly how much rain we've had in total but another 6 inches over the last 24 hours.

Thanks for your support through this - has been much appreciated.
