Hello New Member Bruce

Post by Bruce Sanders on 26th April 2014, 15:16

Hi All

My name is Bruce Sanders and i live at Aberglasslyn in the Hunter Valley, we shifted here five years ago from Queensland when I retired.

I grew some roses when I lived in Qld but when we came here in our first year we went to the local Rose Society show. I saw a name on some rose and made in inquiry to a n ex workmate and he said yes that was him showing roses. He forwarded me the news letter and from their we became members of the Hunter Valley Regional of the NSW Rose Society. I am also a member of the American Rose Society.

Through joining the society I have made lots of new friends and learnt a lot about roses, plenty more to learn yet.

I have in vicinity of 100 roses and recently have started to grow miniature roses. I do belong to a lot of Rose related facebook pages as well

Nice to be part of your forum and I hope to learn and share

Thank you for some of the welcomes that I have already received

Bruce

Yes Bruce, "The Magnificent Rose" is a great site, set up by Richard Stubbs from David Austin Roses just over one year ago. As you know it is basically photo's of peoples roses(flowers) from all around the world. Admission is by application.

P.S. I have just activated Helen's account.

Thanks David I did not see this but have had a go at the picture posting, many thanks, I have been in the garden getting it ready for the new rose.

I have started a verge garden like Mark in Sydney, when i first started it the Ranger was around in the morning to see if I had council permission. They have said I can keep it but that is this council so if members change I may have to destroy it

I think you will find that if this council allows you to do something , it can't just be rescinded by a new incoming council, or they are going to widen the road and need that land.....after all the verges are classified as road........ also you brunt the cost if they have to dig it up to do sewage or lay cables........
