LOL I've never thought of them being "latte coloured" before!  lol!

I think this rose (Koko Loco) has a fair bit of variation going by the pics on HMF [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Maybe because I don't drink lattes I've never thought of applying the colour of one to a rose? (I don't put milk in my coffee at all.)

Fascinating stuff from Kijm Rupert, as always.

Just to update the 2000 article a bit, I found this snippet from Kim, sort of a codicil to the earlier piece on the browns/lattes, which are clearly dear to Mr Rupert's heart.

Each decade, development raises the bar of health and vigor. In its time, Brown Velvet was the best of all the brown roses in health, vigor and flower production. Some were "browner", but as a garden subject, Brown Velvet kicked the others out of the running. Hot Cocoa did the same to Brown Velvet. Honey Dijon did it to Julia's Rose and now Koko Loko has done that to Honey Dijon.

Betsy, what ever colour "Koko Loko" is, it as a bush does nothing for me.

Whilst we are on the subject of coffee/chocolatey colours, does anyone grow Hot Cocoa? I saw this one at Werrrbee and rather like it, both colour and form of the flowers. HMF says moderate fragrance but I couldn't detect much. I would be interested in any feedback on this one.

Yes Zoe, it would go well with a lot of roses in my opinion. Christian Evers has a big future in breeding. I am going to try and find who in Australia has the Tantau agency.
