Because of the severity of the attack by the mites I decided I had to bring out the Vertimec today and used it in combination with Natrasoap. The temperature was an overcast 38 C and normally I wouldn't spray in such conditions however desperate times require desperate measures. I'm am now watching to see the outcome of spraying at such a temperature and combination of chemicals.

I was informed by Dawson's garden world that predatory mites would set me back $79 and when there's no more food they die. I for one don't have the room for other plants so for me that's not an option.

Just a piece of "useless" information to add to this discussion, "mites" are grown on bean leaves.
@Doug, seeing you are close to UWS Hawkesbury, could you not contact them, they had a good IPManagement program running, it was run Robert Spooner-Hart(Assoc Prof) if you are going to use them in the future.

I have tried Eco Neem from OCP and it kills red spider mite however when you have 400 roses it becomes very expensive. With respect to oils they work but leaf burn becomes a problem in the Summer when red spider mites hit.

With the abnormally high temperatures in Sydney during Autumn we have experienced an infestation of red spider mite that normally doesn't occur so late in the season.
