Wow! That is an amazing number of Noisettes! Just as well I don't have that many to choose from, I'd never be able to make my mind up.

My problem is that there are SO many beautiful roses of all colours! I seem to spend hours happily reading through rose catalogues and descriptions on the laptop, making endless lists and wishing it was rose ordering time. What a lovely way to pass the time after a hard day at work!

I really like Cloth of Gold and Marechal Niel, Ive actually been looking more at some hybrid musks that i rather covet - Autumn Delight, now I reckon that would look lovely - as would about a hundred other roses on my 'maybe' list!

Don't have any experience with cloth of gold, but I did have Marechal about 12 years ago, and he was beautiful

I've never seen him in real life but the pictures are always amazing - might just have to give him a try.

Debbie

Keep in mind that the number of Noisettes available in Australia is only a small fraction of that shown on HMF.

Morning Debbie, if you ask Wendy(AutumnDamask) she might tell you all about it ?
Debbie I have just read an earlier post of yours, I have a young plant of 'Cloth of Gold' and IMO it will turn out to be a good rose

Hi Debbie, can you come down to a colour to start with within the "Hybrid Musks" as there are 17 pages of them on HMF

Perahps Hybrid Musks need their own thread.

For reasons discussed earlier, the search engine will not locate hybrid musks on a noisette thread.

This Edit is from David, roseman, ADMIN, we will make this a Case Closed  subject.

?David. Not sure if you've misread Debbie mentioning 'Autumn Delight' (Hybrid Musk) with the 'Autumn Damask' (Damask) ?

I only have a couple of Noisettes: 'Lamarque' and 'Crepuscule'.

Do you know, I think this choosing roses is a bit like choosing names for babies - I woke up this morning and thought 'Alister Stella Gray! Of course! No other choice'. But by morning tea I'll probably be thinking something entirely different. I'll change my mind a hundred times before the great event - actually ordering the rose!

How do you guys choose what to grow? I have so many roses that I'd like to grow, but I'm approaching it from looking at my garden and thinking of particular spots, then trying to think what would be best there.
Except sometimes when I see a rose and think 'I have to have that!' and try to convince myself that a 6 metre climber will grow nicely over my side gate in total shade or something. Actually it's much more fun than choosing baby names because, in a few years time if you realise you made a mistake, you can still change your mind.
No, we are not expecting David!!! But I have son with the middle name Kimberley ( a lovely old family surname - First Fleet) who is unimpressed.
