Today I discovered my blooms particularly the lighter coloured ones under a full scale attack from thrip and black beetle.

Regarding the Black Beetles, you might like to try filling some White containers with water and the Beetles will be lured to the white glowing bowls of water.
It works for me if I ever have the problem.
