Oh Dianne, such a simple sounding question and such a tough one to answer. Depends on the day, the month, the light, my mood. I have so many newies it might be too soon to make that judgeement. Maybe Kardinal? Because it's such a vibrant colour that glows even in the evening and lasts for ever on the bush. The form of the flower always seems perfect. Fragrant Cloud? Love the coral terracotta colour that never looks brash and it's perfume that makes you feel you're drowning. Dioressence? smells like french perfume as its buds unfurl, glorious rich lavender shades, often with hints of purple and burgundy.
When they start blooming I'll probably have more fav's.
What about you? Now that you've posed the question, you have to tell us your standout.Roses

I
My standout rose is one that has the fragrance of Papa Meiland, the growth habit of Elina, the bloom form of Aotearoa, the bloom production of Iceberg, bloom size of Moonstone , the foliage of Imp and disease resistance of an old fashioned rose.

The list could be long, as for one point of a rose, fragrance, Camp David.

If I didn't have at least two out of these five roses, I wouldn't bother with roses at all:
Valencia
Fragrant Cloud
Firefighter
Parole
Baronne Edmund de Rothschild

Mighty and alluring (and quite different) fragrances, great cut flower staying power, and very good to great rebloom. Where BS is present at the height of summer, it isn't a dealbreaker for me, and all these roses bounce straight back.

My current plants are between two and six years old. No spray, plenty of food but water not always as plentiful as it should be (lazy me). My roses have to be able to rough it a bit.

Any time you're ready to start a thread on Dioressence. silky, I'll be reading avidly. You seem to really like this one, and i've shied away, thinking it might be one of the tricky ones, like Babs.

PJP11 is an excellent bloomer

Red Intuition, only because the first one I had was such a disaster I got rid of it. Tried again with much success and lots of blooms.

Yes Betsy, love my Dioressence. Nearly gave up on it a couple of times but it blew me away last year and am hoping for the same again this year. I'll keep you informed about its performance.
Alas my new Baronne de Rothschild looks like its kaput, no sign of growth, browning and withering stems. I contacted Magic Gardens and sent photos. I'll have to get another one, was so looking forward to it.

I love Granada and Papa Meilland. Just the outstanding colour of each rose, never mind the fragrance is just the best. BUT, I have many others too!

My outstanding roses are.. Arianna, Pope John Paul, Ebb Tide and Holterman's Gold, they always grow well with heaps of blooms and are pretty disease resistant.
