Post by paulh on 4th September 2013, 23:02

My wife recons I have to much time on my hands lol, well she may be right, well what to do when you have some spare time. Make a rose chart...
Here is a sample of my handy work, it is done in a Microsoft Word format, Has all my roses on it. If anyone would like to use it, buy cut and pasting your own images and info, just PM me and I will email it to you. Just a thought

I do mine in MSAccess. Not that I am very good at updating it.... Razz I used to do it in Excel but it was getting too big and unwieldy.
So there are tables of information and then I can bring up an individual rose's form like so:

From Microsoft?? hahahaha

No - I have Office Professional [Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, Outlook, Publisher] . There is a "run-time" version of Access that can be used by software developers but that's beyond my abilities...

Wendy, nice to see you have an Aussie on your rose chart.
St, Bridges is a very nice rose.

Re: My Rose Chart

I started to do up a database (which is still sort of up to date) with names and colour and rose type with grand ideas of linking it to a spatial package like AutoCAD (as I use it for work) or something similar so I could just click onto a map of the garden and it would tell me what rose was there, when it was planted, when and what fertiliser etc.

But then I decided life was not meant to be that complicated. I can walk around the garden and tell you which rose is which off the top of my head (we don't have any tags on most of them). If the plant is not in flower I can show anyone a photo on my gallery so that will do me.

Roseman. I've just asked my son who is very computer lit. and he says the best thing for you to do is to ask around your family to see if anyone has a copy of Mircosoft Office. You can then download it and have access to MSAccess.
