A question about Old Fragrance

Post by zephy on 17th June 2013, 14:32

I ordered O/F after reading on HMF that it only grew 60-80cm. Had the perfect spot for it. Then today I was looking at Treloars site and they describe it as Tall and Vigorous!!! Could somebody that is growing this let me know the dimensions please. If I squinch Parole over a bit (80-100cms) I may be able to put that there if 80-100 is right. Headsup on that also please.

Thank you for the info Maree.
Must admit I am a bit worried about HMF's advise re size as I chose quiet a few roses to go in specific places and it sounds as if it is just not going to be on. Oh well there is always the pruners to hand. shame though.

And while Parole is no minnow, she's a shrimp in comparison to OF

Yikes!!!! She is a big gal. Will stop bawling and go extend a garden. She does look beautiful. Will have to find somewhere else for Parole also by the sounds of it. And Crown P Mary. HMF's photo of her was a soft yellow and white which I thought would be a good backdrop with Fionas wish but now they have her as pink and white. Thank you ladies.
Autumndamask could you tell me what the mulch? is you have on your garden please.

The mulch is carpet wool (sheep fleece - not carpet).

That is really interesting. A few questions please. Does it break down or is it the ideal mulch. Permanent. Does it repel water. And does the vaseline in the fleece cause any problems to soil. In my giddy youth I tried Jillerooing in a shearing shed, a lot of fun and my hands were the softest from handling the fleece they have ever been in my whole life. Where do you buy it and how expensive is it. I don't particularly like the look of it but could easily be disguised.  Thanks in advance.

Zephy - I wrote up [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]for you.
The lanolin in the wool is fine for the soil. (Vaseline, on the other hand, being a petroleum based product would be bad)
