Yes my green waste bin is always chockablock Lol, I know what you mean. I've still got quite a few roses blooming so my pruning won't be happening for awhile.
Neptune, what do you do when there are some new shoots at this time of the year? It's not the pruning but the spraying of lime sulphur that creates the problem.

really....why would a fungicide create a problem...

the new shoots will happen , but they are on long canes and will be pruned later on

I've heard that lime sulphur shouldn't come into contact with foliage. Maybe this is wrong?

OK, thanks Neptune. I won't worry about it then, I'll just spray as per usual after pruning.

Yep. Last year I got so frustrated with my "sprayer" that just dribbled and wheezed, I couldn't bring myself to go through the whole operation again so I only did it once. This year, I'll do it properly, armed with a hand held 1L sprayer.

once you have done it once, wash out your bottle and sprayer end as LS will crystallise and block the end of the sprayer, then it will be ready again....

Sulphur is susceptible to heat, not the lime, silky, as a combination drench LS will not burn the shoots, early morning or late afternoon.

Thanks Neptune for that tip. I'll make sure I wash thoroughly. That wasn't the reason for my woeful sprayer performance last year as it was a brand new sprayer! Tantrum
You've helped put my mind at rest Roseman re LS spray.
