Hello, I am Daiana

Post by Daiana on 3rd April 2013, 02:42

Hi,

My name is Daiana, I am from Bucharest, Romania and, although I have been a member of Rosetalk since november 2012 I did not really get a chance to introduce myself nor login to the forum as I went on a three month trip to Latin America which made my access to the internet quite difficult. However, I like this forum very much, got to know it when I was browsing the internet in search of information for my new passion, gardening and roses.

I have a countryside property with quite a big garden where I chaotically planted last autumn various roses (mostly old garden roses) and I am now trying to find out which is what... I hope to learn a lot from you, the members, and get to a level where I can also have knowledge to share...
Thank you for this opportunity.

Daiana

Hi Daiana, welcome aboard. I look forward to chatting with you and finding out about how roses go in Romania, other side of the world. What roses did you plant? (even if you can't quite remember which is which Lol). I'm sure the many experts here will be able to help.

Welcome Daiana. Bilnbear, Bonita and Rosemadow are the Heritage rose people to watch for they have a good understanding of warm weather heritage roses. I dabble myself and have nearly 200 heritage roses.
Romania can be very cold so be aware a lot of our roses are for warmer
climates. I do a lot of raving to try and make rose growing more enlightening but don't let that worry you.

Thank you all. Such a warm welcome! Here's a list of what I planted and a link to some pictures I took late last year in the garden. Not that you could see much in these photos... I just realised there are some tea-hybrids and floribundas there. Latin America was amazing, I stayed most of the time in the Amazonian region so the nature was stunning. Still, I had quite a bit of a shock culture wise and mosquito wise Smile...Then I returned to Romania too late for ordering roses for this spring so I'll have to prepare well for the autumn. Please forgive my clumsiness, I may be wrong when I name roses or when I assume certain things..

Daiana, you have some wonderful roses amongst your list. There are lots I do not know so will have to look them up.
Fantastic shots of the garden, Is the greenhouse finished, I reckon it would get good use in your Winter.

Chippendale, I would hope gets to our shores. These others are great, Artemis, Heidi Klum, Emilia Maria, Dames De Chenonceaux.
The breeder of lots of your roses, Hans Jurgen Evers is very talented. They are released by Tantau, I will see if they have an agent here in Australia, there are a couple I would like.

Daiana, there are 3 I can not find, they are,
Elfie, which one have you got

we decided to change the place of the greenhouse so no news on that end so far.
Please excuse the confusion of the roses names, I did look them up on help me find before I ordered but did not correct the names in my list.

Elfie is I think elfie's joy,
uetersner klosterrose,( sorry it was misspelled) is here : [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
schneewitchen I think is the third one, the website where I placed the order stated the misspelled name.

Do you use any other type of search engine for the roses?

I am in constant search for suppliers with a broader offer. If at any point you have any suggestions of varieties that you especially like or of international or european suppliers I would be more than happy to check them out.

Thank you for bearing with me.
I will now move to reading other topics Smile

I would trust them and I know people that have given them plants(roses) of great significance to spread throughout Europe.
