Wendy,(and others) as you are away reading, try this to go with your new catalogue.

It's a smaller book in format size, down from A4 to A3, I think.

Always a fun read and a keeper, whatever the size...

I am not taken with the new offerings, but fascinated that Treloar's big award winner from last year, Perfume Passion, is on the cover, and promoted heavily inside.

Does anyone have PP. aside from me?

It must be a good read Wendy roflmao . I received mine yesterday and think it is a better size than previous one's. It is well layed out.
What do you think of prices in it. I reckon $13.50 for a everyday rose is very good price.
As for "Perfume Passion" Betsy on the cover I think it is a marketing thing, it gets your eye, gets you into the catalogue. The other thing it has had 12mths out there, the new one's are, lets say "iffy" till tried, these are just my observations.

hi Betsy ,

I have it , and I must say it hasn't been a good performer for me , it flowered once .. and the flowers balled and the perfume was very weak , not very impressed by this rose . I will see how it performs this coming season , otherwise perfume passion will be going to heaven.

The book is the same size as ever...
But the layout is better this year. The HTs and Floris have got a pic for every single rose listed which is a good move I think.

Re Perfume Passion: might pay to "wait and see" due to seasonal variations? I've got some roses that in Spring with the first flush always seem to be ball up but later flushes are fine.

ETA: But! Wait a minute! Shocked Did I just see *Dan* threatening to ditch a rose??? OMG!!!

Maybe my old catalogue just seems bigger because it's stretched from overuse Wink

But yeah, I nearly dropped the phone when I read Dan's post. As it happens, I don't love my PP either. I dunno . It's bs-resistant and perfumed, so the swing tag doesn't lie. Its gazillon awards just don't make it lovable to me.

lol

Wendy I am , its just such a disappointment to me .. I will either ditch it or give it to my sister so she can put it in her garden maybe it will perform better for her , but I will wait till spring and see if PP will perform better

Re: Excuse me - I'm away reading

maree, for me it is the colour that's unappealing. I'm not a mid-pink collector - I gravitate toward the darker end of the pink spectrum, to the watermelon hues. On the bush PP is loud, and in the vase it's :meh:

Everything else about this rose is good, and no doubt the productivity will get better next year. As for the fragrance, it is most noticeable indoors.

PP is not a big-time loser for me like Sweet Intoxication: it's just not as deliriously great as all those awards would lead you to believe.

Thanks Betsy , i think you have steered me in the right direction here , if it doesn't have a good fragrance outdoors , then its no good to me , i love walking past and getting a waft of perfume , plus i also love to have a vase inside , so i think i'll give it a miss , thanks heaps ....
