Diagnosis??

Post by AutumnDamask on 30th January 2013, 09:07

Not sure what to think.... one book had a picture like this associated with waterlogging. Given that it hasn't rained here for a while... yeah, no.

Anyone have any ideas?

no yellowing in the leaves paul. Don't think it is iron deficiency either.

Looking at the bush with drooping leaves and you lack water, could be a case of sun stroke

Sorry Wendy, I missed this one, the rose is a Tea I think, is it not Question . from our other conversations, water seems to be the culprit. As of the last day or so you have had some good rain I think that will perk it up, has it had a feed at all or recently(whilst raining would have been ideal) Question
These are my thoughts, not sure about mineral deficiency yet, are there any rose next to suffering the same problems.

Hmmmm I'll see what happens. I do have what appears to be Magnesium deficiency on some of the other roses but it presents differently (more obviously veining etc).
This rose (weeping standard, Noisette) and another (china) have shown this more consistently. It's possible it's a more extreme deficiency.

We'll see what happens with the change of weather now. Wink Of course if I go and put fertiliser around it then it won't be a pure experiment. Razz

Wendy just put some Epsom Salts around it and water in. If it was heat related there would be leaf edge burning and drying out.

Thanks.
Looks like Magnesium will be the experiment of choice. Very Happy
I should probably do all of them while I'm at it.

Umm a very scientific "handful" ? My soil appears to be deficient in Magnesium and sulphur so I really can't go too wrong... LOL

Wendy, you have a Rural store in town I guess, for some reason I think we used liquid in the vineyard to correct a minute deficiency of Magnesium at one time, might pay to ask

I nearly used Mag Nitrate and then thought I had better not play with the NPK much. Razz So I've started on a round of Mg2SO4 plus some Sudden Impact. Wink

But yeah, I'm sure I can find more commercial quantities nearby (a lot of orchards and vineyards).
