Re: Odd Ball Conversations

Did you hear that the wonderful father of old roses, Peter Beales passed away last week? He and Keith Money did a great little series of pocket rose books entitled:Early Victorian, Late Victorian, Edwardian, Georgian and Regency Roses. They are great. I met Peter Beales who was in a wheelchair at the Vancouver Rose Conference 2004. He was being pushed around by his daughter Amanda and we shared a lift and a very brief conversation.
Today I planted a second climbing Dublin Bay and picked Parole (probably my top favourite HT) and First Lady and one Peace bloom. We had over 400mms of rain here between 25-28 January. I feel almost guilty when we sit here high and dry and others are suffering so much.

Was going to throw out a Fortuania stock plant which I used to experiment with my first budding graft.....thought I failed miserably, till I picked it up and looked under the stock leaves and found my bud had taken....I'm going to be a daddy......[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
