Thank you Simon , that site is fantastic, and when I have time to go through it all I think that I will find it very helpful. I don't know where you found it but once again many thanks. C

I found just by googling... I am trying to find information about germinating gigantea seeds because they are a warm climate rose I don't know whether they need stratification or not... or maybe something like warm stratification. One sourece says the seeds can take up to two years to germinate.. but I've never heard people mention anything like this before... need the Alister Clark book to hurry up and arrive. I've put about 50 gigantea seeds into a ziplock bag of moist perlite and I'm leaving it in a warm shady spot to see if I can get any germinants.

two years would take a lot of patience probably more than I have. This is a new one on me. I will see what I can find out. Let us know how your seeds go - I am interested to see your results - it should work. C

The book is called "A Man of Roses" by T.R. Garnet. I got a copy from teh UK a little while ago so I am hoping it will arrive in the next few days.
