This is going to be fascinating. Wonder if the five will obligingly flower at the same time, so we can seem them as a group?

Betsy they are all at different growth stages as sedlings but when they get older they should be able to flower together

Here you are Betsy the same cross Baronne Ed Rothschild X China Sunrise, pale yellow old fashion bloom style by the look of it.

It won't be open for a few days with this cold weather comming back.

Insane. How do breeders ever cope with the capriciousness of DNA? And how do you get these things to breed true? Even human siblings tend to look more alike.

Betsy you have to remember human siblings have diploid chromosomes, these roses have four and some others I work with have six X seven sets, with large numbers, the differences can be so vast. This yellow and the yellow blend in the others, would probably come from the Parador side of the family.

Thats enough Bruce I am not that pure of heart lol. Honestly I let the roses tell me what to do by looking at their characteristics, its like breeding anything you must have the eye.

This is a Gemini cross ? the tag dislodged and I have no idea what the pollinator was. This seedling germinated late Autumn is around 7" high and those buds are 3/4" in diameter, I had to use satè sticks to prop them up so they would n't damage the plant if it got windy.

Is that a bit like Leonardo da Vinci let his paint tell him where it wanted to go on the canvas when he painted the Mona Lisa?

Isn’t it great to have people who challenge us around? They motivate us do things we’d never thought we would.
#1 looks to be the #1, I think, but both are lovely.
Fragrance, Warren, FRAGRANCE; do they have one?
