Dave it is the Aten introduced by Amonhotep IV who became Akhenaten. He praised it as the creator and the giver of life, everything we know, the elements of life were created in the heart of stars and supernovas and with out its light and warmth, we would not be here. So what is the Aten , the Sun. He was the only one that got it right and that was three thousand years ago

Well here is this seedling again about 3/4 opened, I think ,the dark blemishes are cold damage on the guard petals due to the cold weather recently. What I like about it is,the large petals and the heady perfume it has.

Its still a baby Dave, the bloom structure may change when on the end of a growth cane pencil thick or more. I have seen this happen many a time.

Don't change the subject, it is still one to keep , "just in case". There are some ugly roses out there, but thier fragrance makes up for it.

I adore this baby already. It's lovely, smells like gardenia. Heartbreaking that you aren't selling your roses en masse, Ozroz. Akhnaten had one Nefertiti. You're surrounded by beauties.

BTW: we spent a good part of 6th grade in my USA school learning about Akhnaten. He joined Mahatma Ghandi and Joan of Arc in our teacher's list of most memorable 'history stories'.

When Akhenaten disposed of all the other god figures and just kept one, the Aten, the priests were a little upset about losing the prestigious way of life and supposed to have poisened him. Sort of what they did to the Roman Caesars. Gee they were the good ol days Voodoo Hide

When you feel confident enough to name this wonderful creature, perhaps you might consider one of Akhenaten's six daughters .

Oh look, I just happen to have a list of the girls right here Surprised

Crikey Besty, imagine some going to a nursery and saying can I order a *********aten, their little tounges would be going in all directions. Tutankhamun marrying his half sister csk csk . As I said earlier I think the colours are effected by the cold and should sort themselves out when it becomes warmer. Its a huge bloom for such a small plant it would measure around 3" in diameter.

Ok she is fully open, but remember it is the first flower on a seedling so it may improve. This bloom has been picked and prepared to be used as a pollinator on Old Blush and Ten Thousand Lights (China's) along with Lamarque the Noisette.

Here are a couple of newies , remember this is their first bloom since germinating.

The first is Gemini X Arjuna what I like about this one is the petal width being quite wide along with the colour which is almost scarlet.

The second one is (Wendy X Abraham Darby ) X Berolina, I wish the yellow was a little brighter.

WOW x 2! You're producing some stunning roses Ozroz. Particularly like the pink mottled HT and the scarlet one. If these are the first flowers of these babies, imagine what they will be when mature! Wonderful work!

Does either have any perfume? Or are you just concentrating on colour and form at this stage?
