Would a show bench win get Ozrose to market? At least on the radar of the major players? Then go for it. Good on you, Neptune

Am I being giddy and naive here, or do we think that Ozrose has a treasure trove that. with development, could be translated into international commercial goods?

These are definitely worthy of commercial development IMO. Just on the pictures posted, there is such variety in form and colour, plus fragrance. Better than many offered currently in nurseries, despite their glowing descriptions. Ozroz, I really do hope that there is some way that your roses can find their way into Australian gardens. The show bench might be the first step on that road, who knows? I wish you well.

Re: My Lifes Work

Warren I like the first two on the list,

Recently I mentioned having a go at promoting Aussies like yourself. I can't do it alone so joined the Rose Societyof NSW city area with intentions of starting a new testing garden on council land with night security and lifting the value of prizes for Australian bred roses. Also a large sign at shows "Look for our Australian bred roses" These to have a small special Aussie flag somewhere on the exhibit.
When I mentioned these promotional ideas to the show organisers they replied " We have all this now ". I haven't been to a show recently or been very interested in showing roses without having a large igloo to grow them in. Anyway I'm going to the next big show to check it out

Regards The Sydney testing garden, well that has not had a great impact like let's get the ball rolling now. The members in our branch are pretty elderly and numbers are going down. Probably would have more interest from a younger group further out of the city. To be continued.

Must mention I have had interest in Pink Angel from exhibitors wanting to exhibit it as an Australian bred rose. When grown to perfection it has great eye appeal. Neptune could be the first step to get your roses out there. I see all your nice roses on the forum but nowhere else unless I stumble on a regestered one on HMF. If you like I could place one of your best exhibition type roses with one of our very successiful exhibitors. Send one to me and I would tell every visitor about it. People like to hear the story behind a rose. Surprising how 90 year old Geraldine Park's story goes over so well with visitors.

Ozrose that Australian distributors are more interested in overseas roses than Aussies makes no sense at all, especially if you compare our climate maps with ours having only four zones and Aussie roses leaving much less room for error in terms of what would do particularly well here.
If Australian distributers can’t utilise that strength, have you considered entering one of your stars into European trials? From what I understand most of their “winners” have either very little or no fragrance at all, and yours would just blast them away. We’re selling rice to the Chinese and wine to the French, why not roses to the Europeans? They must be getting a bit tired of more of the same all the time over there and long for an exotic Australian fragrant novelty.
Especially if you specialize in developing fragrance, you’re my kind of guy to order roses from, and I for one would like to have an Atomik to complement my Fragrant Cloud. Had my first proper sniff of it yesterday and was card-wheeling through the yard. So there’s going to be more FCs her in Brisbane. I would also need anything else fragrant of your list that you recommended would blend with these two unique colours. It would still be good to see them all together on a webpage or gallery.

Warren, John's idea of the show bench could be a way of getting your roses noticed. Any feed back from Treloars yet ?

John I sent some bud wood out one year, which nothing happened ,from what I can gather it died before it could be budded. Thinking about putting some in the big show in Melbourne this Nov.

Jordan, you are on a list which is getting longer. It starts with.
Carole(my wife)
Me
Wendy(AutumnDamsak)
Then some others, then you.
If and when Warren lets the members of the forum have some we will always be in his debt as he has ceated some beauties.

The list for them is getting longer Warren.

John, you might need to ask some funy questions as I know nothing about the bench. Some might be , not released rose, trial rose, registration granted/pending, never been offered for sale.
