Warren, I have always done mine in flats but when I have to move them into something deeper that's when I have problems.
This time I am going to do it your way as they should have more depth for thier roots. I am sure I have some of those small pots you have in your pic.

Carole by placing the seed around the edge of the pot, when you tap out the soil they are extremely easy to prick out. Planting the seed in these pots make the roots quite long.
