We had it a few years ago. It was a real dog. Everytime a leave showed up it went spotty by the end of the next day and it was gone the day after (well nearly that bad). I don't think it liked the humidity.

We shovel pruned it.

Spinosissimia is in it. No wonder it was bad in QLD Wink

This rose likes a bit of winter chill and milder climates. Damian has it, David. You might try emailing him about it. It does nicely down here but I have not grown it (yet). I don't like the 'Sister Therese' in it.

George Thomson has a handful of nice polyanthas he bred from Excellenz von Schubert, but hasn't released as far as I know. Trouble is, I'd guess he got his plant from Thomases', and I'm not sure theirs is correct. The one in the HRIAI Collection at Renmark also came from them.

Margaret, I know this is a silly question. Were they the importer of the budwood. Mistydowns has it for sale, can I assume thiers came from Thomases as well. I will email them.
I think this rose is lovely and has potential for breeding. Before showing Carole(wife) the picture she said "not another single" rose you want, I can have it as she does like it. lol!

Chances are, the budwood for both Thomases and Mistydowns came originally from Ruston's. I'll ask next time I'm at Thomases'.
The next HRIAI journal (out late March) will have a couple of doz pictures of single roses.

I've posted a pic of the one at Thomases (and probably Aus-wide) on helpmefind and asked for comment. There are two different roses sold under that name in the US - the scented mauve one doesn't match early descriptions and is probably a re-named foundling. I think ours is different from both. Might be Gartendirektor Otto von Linne, which Riethmuller used for breeding Carabella and most of his others.

Betty, thanks for the photo. It looks great. I guess ther are 2 questions then. One being who did you purchase it off and are you happy with it. Everything I have read about it tells me it is a good rose.

Hi,
I have it oo, but it's in a very dry section of my garden and it hasn't done very well. Mine would have come from Mistydowns.

Mine also, Barb, seeing Treloars don't appear to stock it. I'm very happy with it, David. I hope it does well when I plant it but the rose itself is very nice.
