Wendy.. This is 'Softee'

Post by Admin on 22nd November 2011, 22:02

This is the plant from which your plant came from (which came from a plant a good friend of mine near Hobart gave me). This one has only been in the ground one year. I expect it to double in size at least.

Great photo Simon Smile
How do you manage to get so many blooms on the plant so soon? Could it be the Tassie weather?
Looks like a gorgeous rose, is it a minature or shrub, do the blooms have any fragrance?

That's 'Softee' for you... Rosalie, in WA gets even bigger flushes on larger more mature plants. It's a mini and I can't say I've ever put my nose to it Dunno Very healthy too... that's no spray.. those green things on it are leaves Wink lol

Is that what green leaves look like? Dunno hadn't seen them like that before L.O.L.

Hi Wendy , Simon is right this little critter is a flower machine .
Give it a bit of room and it will make a nice rounded flowering clump . This one is a bit smaller than usual because I pruned it this winter by shearing it off at ground level.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] It's easy to propagate too , no finesse or fancy tactics required either.
After cutting it right back , simply decide what size chunk you want.
Sink the axe , meat cleaver , what ever in and chop. Use the garden fork to lever out your chunk and replant .

cheers. Rosalie

It's a very cute (and vigorous) bush!
Here's a pic I took this morning of the slip you sent me, Simon:

Maybe it should be renamed "Speedie" ? LOL

You should see the tiny seedling I got from it!!! The flower is barely as big as my thumbnail and the plant, at 2 years old, is barely 15cm tall!
