Streamlining

Post by Billndee on 6th January 2009, 5:58 pm

I am wondering if it would be possible for me to automatically log in as soon as I open the Rose Talk forum? Even though the facility seems to be there for me to log on automatically I still have to enter my username and password each time.
Also, I am wondering if it would be possible for Rose Talk to send me an email whenever there is a new posting? i would love that. Smile

So long as I don't clear my cookies I don't have to log in each time. I usually do clear my cookies because I am paranoid about internet security but when I don't it remembers me if I tick the "Log me on automatically at each visit " option. If your computer is not doing it I would need to know which browser you are using as the instructions are different to fix the problem on each one. I use Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari interchaneably to make sure everything works here and so far *taps head* so good.

The new post email can be enabled when you are replying to a particular post if you tick the "Notify me when a reply is posted" box at the bottom of the page. There is, unfortunately, no option to notify members every time a new general post is made. However, to make it more obvious to tell which forums have new posts and which ones don't I have modified the 'new posts' icon to look like this: . So if you see this, when you are logged in, you will know there are new posts in that forum.

Let us know which browser you are using and we'll see if we can fix the automatic log in feature for you Smile

Hope this helps streamline things a bit Dee Thumbsup

OK... I have Firefox 3.0.5 and for me I need to do two things:

1. Click Tools Arrow Options Arrow Privacy Arrow Accept cookies fro sites should be ticked. I don't allow third party cookies... they are cookies put there by other companies for the purpose of collecitng data and pose a security risk IMO. Under the Privacy tab you also have the ability to clear all private data when you shut down. If tick it and then click on settings you can choose which things get cleared and you can choose to keep both passwords and cookies so you don't have to log in each time.

2. Under Tools click on Security and make sure remember passwords is ticked.

Hopew this helps Dee.
