David, I can't see any Steptoe roses amoungst the above. You get full marks for trying. I think you will have to liberate those wallet moths to fill the list. I do have that Ebb Tide for Carole which may be better to leave until winter.

I've nothing further so will just go back and stand in my spot with the mushrooms.

David, I can send quite a few of these as bud wood for you to bud up soon. I have a spare plant of Rosa wichurana, I have a pot full of Rosa virginiana seedlings, 'L'Ouche' is about to flower so budwood can be had soon, I have a nice plant of 'Fortune's Double Yellow' from Karen that cuttings can be taken from (best left till winter), I have Rosa davidii var. 'elongata' (like normal davidii... which is one of the parents of 'Baby Love'), I have 'Euphrates' but have never been able to get it to strike, I have 'Fairy Changeling' but it's only new and so not quite ready to take cuttings form. Will be ready by winter, 'Baby Love' is not in Australia but I do have a 'Baby Love' seedling from U.S. seed that strikes easily... it's big enough to take cuttings from now though it's not the best time for it, 'Safrano' is ready to take budwood from now, you won't need 'Scabrosa' if you can get those seeds I sent you to germinate... they are 'Scabrosa' seeds (I have a lot of OP 'Scabrosa' seedlings up now and I can send you some if you would like), I have a 'Charles de Mills' sucker that is potted up.. was going to sell it over winter... you can have it, 'Belle Poitevine' is not big enough to take material from yet... may be by winter, that's about it...

Now, I have the wind up since reading about all the roses that nurseries send out that are not what they are supposed to be. I have some of the roses on David's list eg Bon Silene, Charles de Mills, Octavus Weld but I just ordered them from nurseries whose titles have featured on these pages. Is David not buying becuase their identity is under question ... or is there another reason?
BTW, C. de Mills is having its first flower but there isn't any hint of crimson or red. It is very dark pink. Is this to be expected, or a case for going 'Hmmm" ?

David has the breeding bug and my guess is he's putting together breeding stock. It would be worthwhile, if this so, to use the hybridising forum to ask questions about each one... for example Charles de Mills makes absolutely no pollen but can be used as a seed parent. It will throw only once-flowering offspring, there is a good chance they will sucker like crazy... there's little tricks and tips with most of them. David, I have bracteata too but have had trouble getting it to strike and Reliable Roses told me they had trouble budding it. Might try layering it instead.

David, I have a few young plants on your list, Le Vesuve, Louis X1V, Safrano and Souvenir de Wootton Clg, also limited Souvenir de Wootton bush.
You did enquire about Captain Christy some time ago and these are now growing very well. Will have to do a count to see if some are promised.

Some of the buds I put on last April and activated last July/August are now blooming and being used as breeders. If you can get budwood now and up to April/May you should be breeding from them next October.
Some of the Altissimo budded last April and activated last July are nearly 7 feet tall are only showing buds while the smaller ones are blooming.

I should add that wish lists are like job lists - you do two of them and find another three to add to the list lol!

Carole, I am impressed with Davids list, looks like there will be some great seedlings in the future. My goal is to breed stronger coloured Tea roses that are bushy like Jean Ducher only slightly stronger. Collecting the roses to do this has taken quite some time with some holes still left to fill.

If you are ever in Sydney I invite you to call at which time I may be able to assist with some on his list. Most are in 8" pots so can be taken anytime.
Ebb Tide is in the ground so suggest you leave it until winter.

Do look on Help Me Find at Nurseries under the name of Glenorie Roses.
