How do You Relax When .....

Post by OzRose on 6th May 2011, 19:10

You are not out in your rose gardens ?
I like to go fishing.
We took the kids away for 3 days during the school holidays just after Easter down to the Donnelly River mouth in the D'Entrecasteux National park , which is one of the wild bits of coastline on the bottom corner of W.A.
Normally we would be down the beach salmon fishing but the weather was pretty wild with gales and pouring rain so we stayed mostly fishing in the river and that was fantastic fun because the black bream were really on the bite and very fat and feisty.

Heading down river , Matthew is grinning because there are no big waves and he isn't getting seasick.

A half hour session was enough for a family feed.
[The little one is the one that my dearly beloved was allowed to keep , just squeaking in as "size" at 25.5cm . I chucked back anything under 30cm , they are so much fun to catch I'm happy to let 'em get bigger][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

The girls cutting loose down on the beach.

Mr Matthew's moment of triumph when he landed his own bream from amongst the snags . As he doesn't like eating fish [only likes catching them he tells me] there were no tears when I said this'un is only a tiddler and has to go back . Pose for a happy snap and give it a kiss in the best Rex Hunt fashion and let it go again.

The surf pounding on the other sand bar at the river's mouth . This pic was taken from just over a km away using the zoom so you can gauge the height of the surf for yourself.

Taken the following day after torrential rain overnight ; there's only about a metre of sandbar between the river estuary[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

and the ocean

I would have loved to have been there when the bar was broached but we had to come home so Kevin could go back on shift.

So what form is your escapism ?

cheers. Rosalie

You live in a very nice part of our country Rosalie. Very nice photos & your kids look to be having a blast in the great outdoors!

I myself, like to go fishing but do not actually fish myself...I just watch!!!

When I am not doing rose stuff I listen to music & zone out...I have collected CDs from all over the World for years now & have some rare & valuable stuff. There must be thousands of them by now. Being a "completist" I search for every promo CD, single & album of various artists (NONE OF WHICH I CHOOSE TO REVEAL HERE roflmao) that I know is out there...

Apart from music, I enjoy every minute I spend with my 5 wonderful dogs although I wouldn't say that this time spent is always relaxing LOL.

Relax? Enraged I thought that why we had a rose garden????

No seriously I play golf every now and then and go up the beach fishing very occasionally. Just riding around on my mower is relaxing enough after the stress of my business.

Glorious part of Oz, Rosalie. Relaxing for roses too, they do so well (no stress from all our east coast afflictions!).

I run half marathons. First one for the season coming up this Sunday. They're relaxing because I'm so slow Smile Once you get in the "zone" after the first 5 kms your brain goes into neutral. As for the body, well it starts to crash at about 15 kms. And do I relax for the rest of the week - you bet!

Apart from that, listening and playing music (classical) and teaching all my fabulous students for 30 hours a week - mostly relaxing, because they're such good students.

Off for a run bounce

Ozroz

Yeah golf is like that. You always remember the good shots and that is what keeps you going back.

Last weekend I played at Byron Bay Golf Course. I had bit of an up and down sort of round of a round and hit the 18th (a 480m par 5) slambed a drive down the middle (went about 260metres). Hit my fairway wood up about 40 metres short of the green on top of a bit of a hill chipped onto the green and landed to be about a foot from the hole for 3 shots.

I can't remember the rest as it was a blur but someone told me that I three putted, swore a lot and went straight to the bar for a few too many drinks.

I love/hate golf.

Remember the good shots. I will never forget this day, playing the 12th at Deniliquin a par 5, teed off with driver and my second shot was with a 9 iron onto the green, I think the fellows I was playing with were more excited than me. Ahhhhhh one can only dream of consistency. Have you ever played the Ocean Shores Country Club course, water every where and that par 5 14th would have to be the longest I have ever been on and up hill a bit as well.

Hi,
I like to paint in oils when I'm not in the garden.
This is "Oklahoma" in a silver urn my sheltie Smokey Joe won in an obedience trial. I like to train dogs too.

Oz

I have never played Ocean Shores but a few of my mates tell me it is a bit of a mother of a course.

I usually play on the SUnshine Coast. My business has a corporate membership at Pelican Waters which is a nice course so I play there a bit. I am also quite often shouted a game at Twin Waters which is alos an excellant course.

I had a game at Renmark during our holiday trip down there last year. After mainly playing resort courses I realise how spoilt I have gotten after playing nine holes there with a set (?) of hired clubs (?).
