Hello Ulrike, I am glad to meet you here ! I look forward to seeing your seedlings when they bloom. I have only two smallish ones. Kathlryn Morley x Fortune's Double Yellow.

Thank you Simon Smile

The second picture shows my crop of seedlings 2010. The lights are ordinary fluorescent lights. They come very cheap at 4€ each in DIY shops. It is important to choose the type "cool white", as they offer a spectrum of light that is very close to the optimum for plant life. I also take care to avoid any chances of infestation; that means using only clean substrate and new plastic mugs. And I keep them in our spare bedroom without any other plants that could spawn trouble.

The seedlings are op seedlings. I collected small numbers of hips from a great number of sources, so they are really a very mixed lot. My selection criteria were: repeat flowering, romantic looks, scent and health. Many of the hip parents are old garden roses, however it would be along list to give all the names of the hip parents.

The only proper cross that germinated until yet is C17 x Louise Odier.
The first picture shows C17 which is a seedling op 2008. It started flowering in 2009. C17 proved to be very floriferous and healthy; flowers very small, double and slightly scented. LO has a very strong scent, but is prone to blackspot. So I am curious what will develop from this combination.

So I will report later how things went on....
cheers Ulrike
